CPL(Corporal) W L CHEW...

A corporal rank on my sleeve and $100 increment in my salary (i suppose)

I finally graduate from BSLC (Basic Section Leader Course), and my PC put on the rank of CPL for me at the parade square after the gruesome 28km route march. 28km route march, not easy, fighting the fatigue, the sleeping monster, the slopes encountered. Some would say it's in the mind, mind over body. But I completed it and it just seems like a dream.

Over 40 hrs, only get naps without proper sleep. Another battle i fought. My weakness is the tendency to complain and have a hot temper when i don't get the required amount of sleep i require. But, i fought through that again.

Yesterday, i know my posting. I guess infantry wants me. When i stated that i am not interested in being an infantry recce spec with 6SIR, i was posted to Advanced Section Leader Course(ASLC). I don't know why, but that feeling of sianz and depress was felt again. Like what happen on the 1st day of enlistment, like what happen on the 1st day i came to SISPEC-Hotel company.

My world kinda came crashing down when i knew i was posted to ASLC. The company i was posted to was Alpha, which a lot of people say it's welfare company. How welfare, guess i am going to find out soon enough. Alvin guess if i kena aslc, i will go alpha, and well, he was right. As he was suppose to be Alpha company CQ, guess i'll see him back in Alpha when he complete his course.

ASLC, more chiong sua, more route marches, more PT, more rifle cleaning. All which i don't like. But, i might get to be more fitter. Nevertheless, i guess the next 1 and a half year of my National service life has been decided. I will need to stay in, will not get to stay out. Either i will kena infantry or guards. Better go infantry.......

Well...from the start of BSLC, i hope i got into alpha coy. Now i got my wish, by half...kena alpha coy in ASLC. I don't know whether i wanna chao keng or not, but i guess perhaps i should experience the 1st few weeks of ASLC training at alpha. Most likely, i'll go through it, with lots of complaints and stuff, like what happen during my stay at Hotel Coy in BSLC, and later graduate as a 3rd sergeant with a pay of around $770.

Nothing i can do... just hope life is good.


Come to think of it. I miss my buddies from my bunk back in Hotel Coy. But if there's time, we'll meet up again.

1st day of CNY.

Went to grandpa's house. Had grandpa help me with the sewing up of corporal on my no.4 uniform. Thanks grandpa. Had chats with some relatives as well and yeah...the same old questions. Do you have a gf...what you gonna do after NS? Degree or work... My aunt, mum, knows something... One thing for sure, never under-estimate woman's sixth sense.

Come to think about degree or work? Most tell me go for degree. So far, only AL is the one who tell me to go for SIA Engineering Company. Anyway, i still got 1 more year to ponder about it, so well, got free time, go think about how should i shape my future.

Went to mum's buddhist master's house during the late afternoon. Had some talks about NS life with her seniors there. And got some insight about what their views is about. One told me about looking things at different angles. Example, i view tough training as a negative point, but if i look from the positive point of view, i actually get to train and be much more fitter than i was before. Every situation that happens can be viewed as bad, but who knows, within it, it's actually something good. Well, in short, be optimistic...i suppose...

Went home after that, and ordered pizza for dinner. Sure ate until full...reminds me that i ate a lot of tidbits this afternoon. Pineapple tarts, peanuts, ba gua...woot~.......

Happy lunar new year

Yo ppl...wishing everyone a happy lunar new year, and may your wishes come true for this year.

Today just went out for a movie with AL and JL, then went home for reunion dinner. Well, look forward to tomorrow. I only get to meet majority of my relatives for perhaps, once per year? Yeah... When we are busy with our own lives, it's like that, that's why CNY, we get together at a common place, and talk. I look forward to talk to them.

Not to forget, looking forward to enjoy the festive seasons with my friends and................... =D

2 nights out in a week

2 nights out in a week. One today, one on wednesday. Cool. Always like to be at home. Would prefer to sleep over at home also. LOL.

Today had IPPT, deprove in standing broad jump. Improve in 2.4km. Results as follows:

Sit-ups: 40 (5 points)
Standing broad jump: 239cm (4 points)
Pull-up: 12 (5 points)
Shuttle run: 9.7s (5 points)
2.4km run: 10.01 mins (4 points)

Plans ahead: need to get my new year clothes, already settled the jeans and shoes.

Book out at 12.30pm. Rush home to bath and have lunch, prepared by mum. Yummy! Rush out at 2pm to meet AL and qing zhong. We are making our way to costa sands resort at pasir ris. A friend of ours, Joseph is celebrating his 21st birthday over there.

Reach there and saw some old classmates. Apparently, we become like strangers, rarely talk to one another. Perhaps too long never meet up liao. Anyway, receive free tickets to go to escape theme park. Three of us join up with Yong Kang, Yewei and Xiangying. Only play 2 attractions, the go-kart and the yakult flyers. The go-karts is the only one i enjoy in the theme park, the rest...erm...well, don't like them. Main reason is that i go motion sickness and true enough, after getting down from the yakult flyer, felt a bit dis-orientated, did regret a bit on trying out the yakult flyer. 5pm, went back over to the chalet, and talk to more old friends. Also wish Joseph a happy 21st birthday. 6.15pm, AL and I then made our way to Ang Mo Kio.

At AMK, decided to tour the AMK hub. Full of shops selling clothes, rarely see shops which sells food. In the end, settle for chicken rice at a nearby coffee shop.

8pm, wushu starts. The teacher from china started his lessons. I heard money had to be given. Due to the fact that i experience the types of training, i decided not to join the class. Reasons being, already complain too little time for zhou jia quan, and AL said about us training, it's possible but take a much, much longer time to train well, unlike XG, JL, MY.

Today only concentrate a lot on the hk style jiu huan da dao. Well, wanna perfect up that skill, and make sure i remember by heart. So far, i keep forgetting and i felt disappointed in myself. Will do my best to remember.

Nice try JL. While practising 3 man dui da, he accidently kick my balls. Reasons being a few. Maybe, i did not block properly( which is a damn fuck-up situation, knowing yourself being a veteran, and simply still making a mistake of not blocking properly, should feel shameful of myself). 2ndly, maybe i did block, but his feet go round my defending hand and hit it. 3rd-ly, JL wasn't wearing specs. 4th, he's excited and on high mode that he concentrate too much on the moves that he forgot the surrounding situations. 5th, shifu demo-ing, never show any front kick, while JL, however, did a front kick on his 1st try. Argh...so much crap reasons i have. Perhaps the 1st reason is the main one on why this happens. Sure serves as a lesson to me to block properly, and to do practise my blocks properly, and to practise my basic fundamentals properly. Sure shameful of myself, if this news spreads that i got hit cause i did not defend properly. Zzz...

This incident serves a very important lessons. Take basic fundamentals lessons seriously, and practise them seriously. This will be 1 lessons rememebered for life, and i'll make sure none of these ever happen again.

11.30pm. Leave wushu training ground. Drove to AMK McDonald's drive-in to buy filet o fish meal. AL got a milkshake. Then return home.

Tomorrow's plan, is to go shop for CNY's clothing. Hope i settle everything early by tomorrow.

Longest nights out

Hmm, release at 4pm, and reach home at 5pm. Always great to be back home. 3 more weeks, and i'll graduate from the course and get a rank of corporal. (If i manage to pass the entire course that is...)

Suddenly realise i got nothing much to say. Well, guess i'll have to go shopping for CNY clothing. Planning on a levi's jeans, 1 shirt, maybe 2 polos, tee-shirt and maybe a cool cap if i can find one. Underwear and socks, hmm...will consider about it. Dad help me to buy shoes le, and it's a converse brown shoes. Cost $79.90...Thanks dad...

Well, maybe will go shopping on sunday...
