Punching, a basic technique for all kinds of martial arts. But in depth into punching, is a lot of techniques. Execution of a good punch is not easy.
For my references.
3 levels --> Initial burst-->Speed of forearm reaching target--> Explosive power
Take it as a missle being fire off. Initial burst to allow the missle to propel, starting process. Next, the speed at which it dashes towards the target. Third, the explosive power to destroy the target.
Gritting of teeth, close your fists, usage of waist strength. Like a bow & arrow. Pull the elastic rubber and release, arrow will strike forward.
Breathing patterns, breath in before punch and breath out forcefully and concurrently when you punch.
Whole arm cannot be straight, it must be bend a bit at the inner elbow, or risk injuring that part of the joint.
Whole strength cannot be release out, just enough amount must be kept to keep inner elbow bend. Control it, prevent injuries to inner elbow.
If feeling of "good" punch is forgotten. Try the side elbow strike method.
World is balance. Things which start will also stop.
Practise using a target or a imaginary target is good, you know where to strike, you know where your hits will land and you know where to stop in the case of imaginary target as you are actually hitting the air. Quan dao na li, yan dao na li (Eyes following the punch, where-ever it goes..)
Always wise to leave a backdoor, in case you need to get out of the situation...
Maybe i'm crazy or what. Just wanna recap what happen tonight, and continue to improve my punches. I would also like to pass this knowledge to my wushu friends, who missed out what shishu has said.
I'm glad i had tough soc training to buff not only my physical, but my willpower as well. I look forward to shishu's training next week as i know if i take it seriously, though shag, i'll benefit from it. I hope i'm able to catch up with the rest when i'm absent from training. Let's do well and claim some medals home from the national competition this august. ;)
